PCVスタッフのMaryとMihoは、赤十字国際委員会（ICRC @icrc ）駐日代表のレジス・サビオ氏と先日ミーティングを行い、PCVのこれまで1年間の取組みや進展をお話ししました。
サビオ氏とスタッフのみなさんは、赤十字が行っている人道支援や、世界のさまざまな問題に若者が取り組むにあたっての役割や課題について詳しくお聞かせ下さいました。実際に戦争文化の結末をその目で見てこられた方からお聞きする平和についてのお話しは、私たちにとってとても興味深かったです。世界が抱える問題に向き合い、解決していくために、平和のための活動を長く続けていきたいと気持ちを新たにしました。
そして、赤十字のみなさんの基町高校訪問にもご一緒させて頂きました。被爆者の証言をもとに描いた高校生の作品は、とても力強く私たちに訴えかけてきました。もっと沢山の方々にみなさんの作品を見て頂きたいです。
PCVに集まった広島のユースは、今後も赤十字のみなさんとのコラボレーションを楽しみにしております！
PCV representatives Mary and Miho met with Head of the Japanese International Red Cross Delegation, Regis Savioz, to share our perspective organizations’ progress and activities over the past year.
Regis and his colleagues shared with us the humanitarian work the Red Cross is spearheading around the world. We were inspired to learn about peace culture leaders at the Red Cross who witness the results of war culture first hand, on the ground. We were also challenged to rededicate ourselves to peace work for the long-haul, to stay focused and resilient.
We, also discussed the critical role of young people in solving some of the worlds largest global challenges, and the possible barriers to entry into this work.
Finally, we were honored to accompany the ICRC delegation to Motomachi High School, where we talked with students who are creating chilling paintings based off of the stories of atomic bomb survivors.
The youth of Hiroshima gathered under PCV’s umbrella hope to continue to collaborate with the world-changing leaders at the International Committee of the Red Cross.
