【オンライン平和学習】English below

先日、PCV は外務省研修所で行われる平和学習を担当させていただきました。

第1部のパートでは、なぜヒロシマについて学ぶのか考えたのちに、平和公園のバーチャルツアーを通し、被爆の実相について考えました。

第2部では、広島が国際的に見てどれだけ重要な場所かということを学ぶため、Maryが海外からみるヒロシマについて話を行い、日本の外交官として広島をどう発信していくのがいいのか考えました。

質疑応答の時間には

•今の活動をするきっかけについてもっと詳しく知りたい
•核の傘に入ってる国から広島に来ている人々は資料館を訪れた後、どんな気持ちの変化があるのか？
•PCVの今後の展望について
•なぜ核兵器廃絶をしようとしてるのか？

などの質問があり、より深く参加者の方と話すこともでき、本当にいい時間を過ごすことができました。

これから世界へ行く方々と過ごす時間はPCV メンバーにとっても良い刺激をいただけた時間になりました。

A few weeks ago, PCV held an online Hiroshima workshop for the Japan Foriegn Service Training Institute.

First, we considered why it is important for future foreign service diplomats to learn about Hiroshima. We took a virtual tour of Hiroshima Peace Park and learned about the reality of the atomic bombing.

Then, PCV member Mary talked to the participants about international perspectives of Hiroshima, and how Japanese diplomats can share the story of Hiroshima with many people from all over the world.

During our lively discussion, participants asked questions like:
– What was your motivation to begin peace activities?
– After visiting Hiroshima, do people visiting from nuclear countries or nuclear-protected countries report a change in thinking?
– What is the vision for PCV moving forward?
– Why do you think it’s important to abolish nuclear weapons?

This program was a rare and precious time for youth leaders from PCV and the Japan Foreign Service to deeply discuss peace. We are deeply grateful for the opportunity, and wish the diplomats safe travels as they take off for their posts around the world.
